Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology from UNISA – MA Couns Psych (SA) – 1982
Doctorate from UNISA (DLitt et Phil) SA – 1986

Both her Master’s and Doctoral research have been in the area of depression.

Susan completed her internship at the University of the Western Cape in 1983, where she had the opportunity to work with a diverse community, often consisting of first-generation university students. Many of these students travelled long distances to attend classes and faced challenging conditions at home, including a lack of electric lighting and running water.

Since 1983, Susan has been in private practice and currently works in Sea Point, where she shares a beautiful old Victorian house with colleagues in the mental health professions.

Over the years, she has facilitated numerous wellness and stress management workshops for both health professionals and the general public.

Susan is the author of six best selling books: Stress Matters 2nd Edition, Depression Matters 2nd Edition, Love Matters, Marriage Matters 2nd Edition, Divorce Matters 2nd Edition and Mind Your Golf 2nd Edition. All of these books are available both in print and in ebook formats.

Susan has made audio recordings of deep muscle relaxation and visualisation as well as deep muscle relaxation for peak performance on the golf course. These recordings are available.

Susan enjoys hosting guests from around the world at her magnificent holiday home in Langebaan. Many of them have become regular visitors, treating her house as a ‘home away from home’—and over time, they’ve become cherished friends. She also has a passion for cooking and baking, and is currently focused on perfecting delicious sourdough bread, which she generously shares with family, friends, and guests when she’s in Langebaan.
