Therapy Sessions

Susan adopts an eco-systemic approach to mental health, considering the entire context — past and present — as part of both the problem and the solution, whether in the workplace or at home. She draws on a wide range of therapeutic tools, tailoring her approach to meet the unique needs of each client.

An experienced hypnotherapist, Susan integrates hypnotherapy into treatment when appropriate. She had the privilege of receiving eight years of practical training under the expert supervision of the late Professor David Fourie at UNISA. Prof. Fourie, who completed his Master’s and Doctorate at the University of the Free State, focused his research and clinical work on the therapeutic benefits of hypnotherapy in mental health. Susan frequently uses hypnotherapy to help manage anxiety, including fear of flying, as well as for pain control, such as relief from arthritic pain and other conditions.

Susan works in therapy with adult individuals. She no longer works with couples or with families. She does however have a network of colleagues to whom she refers a couple or family for therapy when appropriate.

Susan primarily offers in-person consultations, either at her offices in Sea Point or from her home in Green Point. While she conducted sessions exclusively online during the Covid pandemic, she has since returned to mostly in-person therapy, which she generally prefers. However, she continues to offer online sessions for clients living overseas, in other provinces of South Africa, or when someone is unwell but still wishes to attend therapy remotely.

Susan prefers that prospective clients contact her directly to arrange an appointment, either via WhatsApp on 072 154 9695 or by email at susan@musikanth.com, once they feel she is the right fit for their needs.

Workshops

Susan has designed and facilitated workshops for a diverse audience for many years. She currently offers full-day experiential workshops on creative and practical Stress Management Tools and Techniques. Susan enjoys working with small groups, either at her home in Langebaan or at an alternative venue.
